Objects that listen back.
A practice moving between instrument building, composition and performance — where mechanical and electronic systems are given enough independence to surprise their player.
↗Misfit Harp
Modular strings, electromagnetic sustain, motorised pitch and cross-feedback.
↗Sustain Puppeteer
The two-string prototype where an unexpected feedback behaviour changed the project.
↗Scratches
A recording of the Misfit Harp.
↗In Bloom
Control and Chaos — Korzo, The Hague, 1 November 2025.
The instrument is not only a tool. It can become a second performer — a system that generates, responds and resists.
The work began with a desire to perform dense sound masses and glissandi live with a single musician. That musical problem became an instrument-building problem, and then a way of composing through feedback, physical mechanisms and indeterminacy.
